When Victoria’s Taxi and Hire industry reforms were implemented, The Taxi Services Commission came to Lifebuoy Video in need of a suite of animated videos to increase the level of engagement with key target audiences and increase their knowledge of the benefits of reforms. At the time, this was a tough challenge as some of these reforms were not palatable by some members of the taxi industry. To engage with the audience, we decided we would incorporate real voices and real experiences, producing a suite of animated films that used scripted audio from a taxi driver and his passenger who was an actual representative from the Taxi Industry. The style of the animation was inspired by a transport safety awareness campaign popular at the time, “Dumb Ways to Die”.
