Nurse Communication Training

A huge challenge for Cancer Nurses is how steer smoothly and successfully though challenging discussions with families of those people receiving cancer treatment. When the Cancer Experiences Research team at Peter Mac needed an online education resource for nurses working with older people and cancer, we suggested producing role plays with actual staff and actors to show various situations and outcomes which included screening and assessing the health status and needs of an older adult with cancer, effective communication skills to resolve conflict and manage emotionally difficult conversations and how to best introduce advance care plans.
