Merri Health “Family Foundations”

Whilst support for families welcoming a new born is offered through-out Australia, there are limited supports available to the emotional welfare of the parents themselves. Family Foundations, a unique program managed by Merri Health and supported by Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and Deakin University, is a 10-session program that helps parents work together to manage the ups and downs of raising children. Lifebuoy Video worked with Merri Health in the production of a promotional video that demonstrates how the program can benefit new parents who have recognised how challenging parenting for the first time can be. We documented the experiences of real families and Family Foundations coaches (or more accurately, parenting mentors) to highlight how the program strengthened their relationships, taught them skills for managing challenges and conflict, and provided effective techniques for better communication.
