Monash University, the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre, and Alfred Health invited us to create a suite of visual resources to highlight groundbreaking research on Bacterial Vaginosis (BV), a vaginal infection affecting 30% of women worldwide. Currently treated with a 7-day course of oral or vaginal antibiotics, BV recurs in nearly 50% of cases. The research suggests reinfection occurs through unprotected sex, indicating BV may be sexually transmitted, with bacteria found in men.
Dr. Cat and her team developed an innovative approach to eliminate these bacteria in men by treating both the penile skin and urethra with antibiotics. This breakthrough offers the first real opportunity to reduce BV globally, prevent complications like preterm birth, and improve women’s health. LifebuoyVideo produced animations, interviews, photography, and video footage for global media to promote this vital research, bringing hope to millions suffering from BV.
