Kidney Flagship Program

The MRCI Kidney Flagship program aims to find new ways to prevent kidney failure in childhood and develop better alternatives to dialysis. Chronic kidney disease is a common and serious problem in Australia. Over 28,500 Australians are currently on dialysis and 1,400 patients are waiting on the kidney transplant list. In children, a significant proportion of kidney disease is genetic and in many instances, the disease-causing mutation is unknown. This makes both diagnosis and treatment more difficult. We produced a series of videos for the Flagship team and captured the brave and inspiring stories of parents and children who have had to live with kidney disease and have been able to manage it with the support and care of the MRCI Kidney Flagship team.
